El Museu del Suro de Palafrugell acull una jornada sobre l’ús de la biomassa forestal per a la utilització energètica en la conca Mediterrània.

El Centre Tecnològic Forestal de Catalunya i l’Institut Català del Suro, en el marc del projecte europeu Proforbiomed, han organitzat una jornada-taller sobre projectes públics locals d’èxit, economia i ocupació, amb biomassa forestal.

La jornada, que s’ha desenvolupat al nou Museu del Suro, ha servit de punt de trobada entre tècnics i responsables d’entitats públiques per a l’intercanvi d’idees, experiències i bones pràctiques, alhora que oferia referències d’impacte socioeconòmic i d’exemples d’èxit.

En el cas concret de la jornada que s’ha desenvolupat avui, s’ha estructurat en dues parts: en la primera s’exposaven les perspectives socioeconòmiques de l’ús de biomassa forestal, amb algunes dades de suport, per veure quin efecte pot tenir sobre les economies i l’ocupació locals, el fet de promoure l’ús energètic de biomassa forestal més enllà de la llenya. La segona part s’ha centrat en transferir experiències de casos d’èxit d’altres parts de Catalunya més o menys similars a l’Empordà, que comprenen des de la instal·lació d’una xarxa de calor per a edificis públics basada en biomassa forestal, fins a la promoció de la gestió forestals per part de GALs o consorcis de municipis.

La trobada s’emmarca dins el projecte estratègic Proforbiomed del programa Interreg Med, de promoció de l’ús de la biomassa forestal per a la utilització energètica en la conca Mediterrània. Formen part del consorci, a banda del CTFC, socis de la Generalitat de València, de la Regió de Múrcia (govern i l’agència d’energia regional), d’Eslovènia (institut de recerca forestal i agència local d’energia) i altres entitats i governs regionals del Algarve (Portugal), nord i centre d’Itàlia, Sicília i l’Oest de Grècia.

The Cork Museum of Palafrugell (Girona, Catalonia, Spain) held the conference about the use of forest biomass for energy utilization in the Mediterranean Basin.

The Forest Sciences Center of Catalonia and the Cork Institute of Catalonia, within the frame of the MED project Proforbiomed, have organised this conference comprising the presentation of successful local projects and facts and figures about enployment and economy associated to the energy use of forest biomass.

The conference, which took place in the new Cork Museum, has been a meeting point between technicians of different local entities (municipalities, county councils) but also for consultancy and other entrepreneurs, and it has facilitated the exchange of experiences, especially successful experiences and lessons learnt. At the same time, the conference has also offered the participants some facts and figures which can be of later use for argumenting forest biomass projects and initiatives.

The conference has been structured in two parts. Three experts on socioeconomical implications of the use of forest biomass have spoken in first place. During their lectures, the attendants have been able to figure out the regional and local perspectives, from a realistinc point of view, resulting from the use and promotion of forest biomass. Later on, the conference has been focused on the transference of successful projects developed by or in collaboration with local authorities. The attendants had then the opportunity to learn about the deployment of municipal biomass storage facilities, disctrict heatings networks and how forest owners have been addressed as a trigger for forest management and biomass extraction.

This meeting has been organised within the frame of the MED Strategic project Proforbiomed (Interreg Med), which is aimed to the promotion of the use of residual forest biomass for energy in the Mediterranean Basin. The partners of the consortium comprise the regions of Catalonia, Comunitat Valenciana, Murcia, Slovenia, Algarve, three regions of Italy, Western Macedonia and Western Greece.
